Upcoming Offerings:

On the Immeasurable Benefits of Compassion: Why Growing your Compassionate Nature can Help with Everything” FREE Online Dharma Talk at Nyingma Institute – Sunday, April 7, 6-7pm Pacific Time

In this talk, Dr. Erika Rosenberg, a Founding Faculty at The Compassion Institute, and researcher at the Center for Mind and Brain, UC Davis, will expound on compassion’s limitless benefits – for you, for others, for everyone you interact with, for all beings, and for planet Earth. Her talk will come from the perspectives of Nyingma psychology, Buddhist meditation, and current scientific thinking.

Active Compassion Practice: Tonglen Intensive Course (2, 4-hr sessions, live online), offered through The Compassion Institute. Wednesday April 17 and April 24, 4-6pm Pacific Time

This 2-session online intensive offers a deep-dive into the active compassion practice of Tonglen. Tonglen is an ancient, imagery-based meditation practice that exercises your willingness to do something for somebody who needs help (including yourself).

Our immersion into Tonglen deconstructs the practice and demystifies it, with an eye toward envisioning what is possible when we learn to stay with whatever arises in life. Offered through Compassion Institute.

Common Questions About The Tonglen Intensive Course

In the brief video below, Dr. Rosenberg addresses some key questions about Tonglen — including the inner strength that it requires but also builds, how it changes our relationship with suffering, and what to expect from the 2-session course.

“Taking your class is one of the best decisions I've made in my life so far….I have enjoyed being a part of your class and am so grateful for your vulnerability and leadership. Your teaching has given me the tools I was looking for to better help my self and my community…I am empowered to help in ways I didn't think possible before. “

— Mary Ann Martin, Birmingham, AL

“I took the class so I could grow in my self-compassion.  I did not expect that it would change the way I interfaced with the world and humanity.  This is just the beginning.  The words Thank You feel so small.  You have personally elevated my purpose in life.  The work that you do leaves me in awe.”

— Rose Hayes, Technologist (Retired)

Psychedelic Integration

I lead sessions for integration of psychedelic experiences, in which we work with meditation and other exercises to incorporate the range of states and insights — both pleasant and unpleasant — that can arise from such inner journeys.
